Wazabee (TM) 3DeeCamera avaible at iTunes

Since Dec. 3rd Spatial View's second application for the iPhone - 3DeeCamera - is available at iTunes. 3DeeCamera allows you to shot two photos (a stereo-pair) within the application and align and rectify these pairs to proper stereo 3D images. For know the user can choose between 3 anaglyph modes (red/cyan, red/blue, and red/green). As well you can save all stereo-images as anaglyphs or as Side-By-Side images for parallel and/or cross-viewing. The application runs only on the iPhone; if you're looking for something similar to use on the iPod Touch the 3DeeVUsion is suggested.

Wazabee (TM) 3DeeVUsion avaible at iTunes

Today was a great day. In morning I found in my inbox news I very appreciate: "Your application status is Ready for Sale". Apple approved the first of three application we were working on the last couple month. At Spatial View we're working on a couple of new products related to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Under Spatial View's consumer brand Wazabee (TM) we'll introduce at Macworld 2009 (Booth 4119) a new product line related glasses-free 3D viewing.
3DeeVUsion; a small application allows fusion and manual rectification of stereo-pairs at the iPhone and iPod Touch. It support any anaglyph modes like red/cyan, red/blue and read/green and SideBySide modes as parallel and cross-viewing.

Wayne Martin Belger

Just few days ago I found in a Flickr group a link to the website: BOY OF BLUE INDUSTRIES: The Art of Wayne Martin Belger. Seriously it is one of most fascinating artists I've seen the last time. In general he is into pin-hole photography. That's cool I love this stuff. But he is building his own cameras - even better. Now it comes: most of his cameras using human skulls as body.
AND Ladies and Gentlemen - One Thing More:
He build a Stereo Pin-hole Camera called 'Yama' (Tibetan Skull Camera). The camera works (fine; I have to say - regarding to the displayed images on the website). He is not that freak as he appears on the first glance - he is a genius engineer. The Yama the Tibetan Skull Camera uses a pneumatic system to move the film. I don't want to quote his website, please go to link and have look onto it.

For me the camera is definitly a Must Have Object.

The artist Wayne Martin Belger needs more exposure; behind the skulls is a solid founded philosophy about to do arts and photography. His work was published by magazines like, Bizarre, Juxtapoz, B&W and others. I was going behind everything I could found on the web. It is simply fascinating. If you are more interested he runs a well done website, with press-release and news and a gallery list.

Stereo 3D images on Flickr

I've put recently a bunch of new stereo images on my Flickr account. More will follow. I used my cell phone, a Sony Erricsson K770i to shot these. It was just a trial  - and I'm impressed by the quality. Guys if you are interested - have a look and give your comments. http://www.flickr.com/photos/dust-d-bugger/

We've used a 5 lens camera by Muvi 3D (http://www.muvi3d.de/). The german actor and puppeteer Jürgen Wicht (http://www.wicht-theater.de/) was playing the german fairytale "Rumpelstilzchen" (Rumble Stiltskin) by the Grimm Brothers. We were happy to have Nils Trümpener on-board working as Director and Cinematographer. Sound engineer Friedrich Wohlfahrth (http://www.guddu-guddu.de/) did the audio-recording. Comin' At Ya! - The homoerotic 3D photographs of Denny Denfield

Second book I've bought yesterday: "Comin' At Ya!" - The homoerotic 3D photographs of Denny Denfield by David L. Chapman and Thomas Waugh. I have seen some of the Stereo-Realist slides before on eBay. Now is a full book incl. stereo-glasses availabe - published by Arsenal Pulp Press (http://www.arsenalpulp.com/) in Vancouver, Canada. ISBN-13: 9781551522258
These book is definitly a must in every stereo-photography collection. As well it comes with a lot gender and/or photo history related text material.

PhotoEd Magazine - 3D special

Yesterday I've bought the winter 2007 issue (#21) of the Toronto based magazine PhotoEd. A full magazine of 3D topics. And the best of it: It explains very simple what 3D / Stereo-Photography is and gives a easy to understand introduction and overview in the most 3D topics. The mag comes with anaglyph cardboard glasses. You can buy it in canadian bookstores or at their website: http://www.photoed.ca/

Cool Gadget #001: OQO e2

Today I did a closer look at the OQO device - model e2, the smallest full-featured PC. OQO (http://www.oqo.com) is a San Francisco based company. The founder Jory Bell was working in the design-department of Apple and did hands on the G3. The OQO model e2 is cheaper than similar Mobile Internet Devices - and the excellent design should work - in my eyes the best of all these Ultra Mobile PC's and/or MID's. Very cool looks the docking station with integrated DVD+RW/RAM. By the way the OQO design is by Nick Merz a former Apple guy. Amazing is the full HD support (1080 !!!) via HDMI interface. Best of all - comes with embedded HSDPA mobile broadband capability, unfortunatly only for people in Europe and Asia (yeahh - I live in Germany). The north-american continent is relativly underdeveloped with available high-speed Internet connectivity.
Definitly a "Build For Me Item". Would be nice to have auto-stereoscopic SeeFront 3D optics by Spatial View for it - to watch Sensio 3D DVD's without glasses. Awesome.

Currently I'm working on the auto-stereoscopic 3D presention of Hagen Bäckers artwork for the new building of the Music Academy in Dresden. I struggle with lights in these huge 3D model. I found some very good camera views - the 3D is excellent - only the lightning sucks totally. Once if I have the lights in final position I will do the camera moves.

Guess this is to funny for the real 3D addict. I've got this last year from DrT 3D (look for 3d-drt-3d or try this link: http://stores.ebay.de/DrT-3d_W0QQssPageNameZstrkQ3amefsQ3amesstQQtZkm) - he has one of the best 3D shops at eBay you can find in the internet.

Canada Trip

Tomorrow I will go to Toronto the last time this year. Probably I will go as well to Halifax in the next weeks to discuss with friends there Dust-D-Bugger activities in Canada. In Halifax is an excellent art academy - the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design (NSCAD University) http://www.nscad.ns.ca/ and I have friends there: the Page & Strange art-gallery http://www.pageandstrange.com/. They have an wonderful portfolio.

A huge part of my stereo 3D collection - mostly Realist and/or glass slides as well a lot of 3D comics - is storaged in Halifax - I have to organize the shipping to germany.

Beside this: the party on saturday at Hagen Bäckers new studio was quiet excellent and a lot of fun - I did some photos and will upload the stuff in the next days - right now I'm pretty busy to prepare the flight to Canada.
